Fire Prevention Week

10/11/2019 (Permalink)

Sketch of a residential escape plan Residential escape plan in the event of a fire.

This year's theme for Fire Prevention Week is "Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and practice your escape!" Keeping this in mind, remember to make a home escape plan with all members of your household and practice it!

Draw a picture of your home just as you would see in a commercial space with red arrows showing the best exit routes. A home escape plan should have two exits from each room in your home (typically a door or window). Make sure those exit routes are clear of clutter and windows can open easily.

After you have your exit routes planned, discuss where everyone will meet once safely out of the house. Practice this a few times to ensure everyone is familiar with the plan. For more information, visit www.fpw.org
